Your company's office is most likely where a majority of work takes place.  This means having a clean, well-functioning, organized office space is important.  Some companies try to cut costs by putting more people and/or things in too small of a space.  Other times companies just don't take the time to stop and look around to realize their current office space is no longer adequate for their needs.  As an office manager it's important to keep an eye on the atmosphere and condition of your office to see if improvements can be made.  By doing this you can ensure a more productive and positive workplace.  Here are some suggestions:

Impacts of Lighting

6/11/15 8:49 AM

Ever know anyone who seems like a normally cheerful person from early-mid spring to mid-autumn and then they become total grouches during the winter?  Well they're struggling with a pathological condition known as seasonal affective disorder (SAD).  This condition isn't actually related to the season, but when winter rolls around there is generally less light and that causes changes in people's moods.   It often manifests itself as symptoms of depression or sudden mood swings.  The best way to correct this is with good lighting.

It's not easy to find a plumbing supply company with good prices whose products you trust. However, it's not an impossible quest. Whether you are a professional plumbing company trying to supply your workers with materials or an institution that's looking to supply your in-house janitorial staff, it's important to have quality materials. After all, a burst pipe or a bad leak could mean closing your doors and create hazards for the people working, attending, or visiting your location. You need supplies that you can trust and service to match and, with that in mind, here are five things to look for to find the right supplier for you:

Wrench turning a nut.

  1. A focus on service – This is where so many plumbing supply companies fall down, and yet it should be the most basic thing they offer. It doesn't really help if a company has a great selection if they're not going to help you find the thing you need, decide which option is appropriate for a given job, or make your purchasing process easy. Likewise, a company should be able to handle a return or complaint. If they don't have a reputation for good service, don't waste your time.
  2. Experience in the industry – Often, this goes hand in hand with good service, but not always. Ideally, the owners or management of a plumbing supply company will have serious experience in the industry, preferably decades' worth. This is what allows them to give knowledgeable advice and make sure they're carrying the best products for every type of job. Experience matters.
  3. Online based – Even in something as hands-on as the plumbing and handyman industry, a good online store is where you should start every search. Online stores have lower costs than physical stores and those savings are passed on to you in the form of lower prices. Plus, online stores have better and faster shipping today than ever before.
  4. Wide selection of leading brands – Every experienced plumber has certain brands he will trust and swear by, because he has seen firsthand how they hold up over time and which ones do the job the best. That means that you need a supplier who carries all the major brands, including the ones your workers prefer to use for any given job.
  5. Everything you need in one place – Let's face it, not every job is strictly plumbing. You may be a general handyman or a building superintendent and do a wide variety of jobs. You may be a contractor who has plumbers and other specialists in the crew, or you may be a dedicated plumber who partners with other specialists. You may even do HVAC work on top of plumbing. A good supplier will be just as well stocked for handyman, HVAC, janitorial and other related supplies as they are for plumbing supplies.
